Dorset Farm Holiday Cottage

The holiday cottage is located on the edge of the rural village of Langton Herring near Weymouth in West Dorset and is surrounded by our stunning Dorset farm countryside. A very short walk gives you spectacular views of the Chesil Beach and the magnificent Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.The following description is a first draft, which is still awaiting revision. Please contact our Customer Service if it contains any gaps.

The cottage can accommodate 5 people with 2 bedrooms upstairs which can be made up as doubles or twin beds as required. The cottage is full of character features such as exposed beams, inglenooks and an open fire. We provide logs for the fire between October and March. The kitchen is very well equipped and includes a dishwasher and has a farmhouse table which easily sits 5 for sociable meal times together. The sitting room has a sofa and 2 armchairs for relaxing in front of the open log fire or watching TV. Free wifi is provided for you to keep in touch with the outside world! This has recently been upgraded to high speed fibre and the TV is a smart TV so you can catch up with iplayer and Netflix etc. The upstairs bathroom has a bath and shower attachment.

We try to stick to weekly breaks running Friday to Friday and short breaks out of season - a 3 night break running Friday to Monday and a 4 night break running Monday to Friday. However we can be flexible if you have different requirements.

The cottage has a large enclosed south facing enclosed garden with patio and garden furniture to enjoy a barbeque or evening drinks. The garden leads onto our own farm land from which you can join the South West Coastal Footpath and numerous shorter walks. There is plenty of space at the rear of the cottage to park your car and we are dog friendly (normally a maximum of 2). All we ask is that the dogs are not left unattended in the cottage unless kept in a purpose designed cage.

There is a games room a short walk away from the cottage which has table tennis, table football and a good selection of paper backs for you to borrow. It also has laundry facilities.

The old stone cottage is full of character features such as wooden beams and log fires. It is very well equipped for modern living including high speed fibre internet and a smart TV plus DVD player. It is an extremely peaceful location and you will be spoilt for stunning walks on our surrounding farmland. You are very welcome to look around our working dairy farm, see the cows being milked and help feed the calves.

The cottage is situated on our working dairy farm on the outskirts of Langton Herring, a short distance away from the stunning Chesil Beach and Fleet Lagoon. The cottage is surrounded by open fields in which you are free to walk and join many public foot paths and indeed the Coastal Footpath runs very close to the cottage. 5 miles to the east is the seaside town of Weymouth which has a beautiful sandy beach and lovely safe and shallow water. 3 miles to the west is the village of Abbotsbury famous for its Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens. A little bit further on is the village of WestBay which was the location for the popular ITV series Broadchurch. Here you will find the stunning beach and cliffs which often formed the backdrop to the program.

The market town of Dorchester is a 15 minute drive away and is worth a visit, particularly to Brewery Square wucih is a new developement featuring an Odeon Cinema and many eating places such as Nandos, Pizza Express, Cotes, Zizzis and Waggamamas. Dorset is a fantastic place to explore and there are many country houses and gardens to visit. Also Monkey World, the Tank Museum at Bovingdon, Go Ape, Brenscombe Outdoor Center with its exhilarating high ropes and numerous beaches should keep all busy.
