Detached, nostalgic house by a lake, ensuring a relaxing family and fishing holiday
This typical Swedish holiday house with an extensive plot of land and a sauna is detached, just 100 metres from Lake Ruske. It is to the north-east of the town of Värnamo in the inland area of southern Sweden.
The house was built around 1900 and was used as a school until the middle of the 20th century. After that it was converted into a residential house and in 2012 and 2014 it was extensively renovated inside and out, renewing the furnishing. In 2017 bedroom and living room were partly newly furnished and in 2018 also parts of the furniture in the kitchen. Now the interior features a mixture of modern furniture in a Scandinavian style and a traditional interior from past times, preserving the nostalgia of the old school era. The house provides 100m² of living space, divided into two units. The main house is on two floors and has five rooms, comprising two bedrooms, two living rooms, a big kitchen-diner, a former school hall as a leisure and bedroom, and a shower room. One bedroom has a comfortable double bed with bedside tables on either side and a wardrobe, while the second bedroom has a bunk bed that can be pulled out as a double bed measuring 160 x 200cm, as well as a wardrobe. The house has a comfortable additional bunk bed of 160 x 200cm for two people in a school hall that can be darkened. Therefore six people can be accommodated in total. A children’s travel bed can also be provided. The two living rooms each have seating for six people and one is a reading room with two comfortable sofas, a coffee table and a corner cupboard, while the other is a TV room with a corner sofa, coffee table, sideboard, armchairs and a flatscreen TV with satellite channels. A stereo system with a CD player is also available, providing a musical backdrop to your holiday. Entertainment is also provided by a Playstation console, a DVD player for a sociable film evening, many children’s and board games, countless books, thrillers and magazines, DVDs and CDs. The “former school hall” also has a table tennis table and a pool table. Convenient self-catering is enabled by the kitchen with a ceramic hob, oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and small electric appliances such as a microwave, toaster and kettle, a raclette machine and a pads coffee machine. The same room has a dining table for six people, a children’s highchair and a separate pantry. The shower room was newly renovated in 2013 and has a washbasin, toilet, washing machine and children’s toilet seat with a step. Pets and smoking are not allowed, out of consideration for other guests.
According to the planning of the municipality, it is planned that broadband connection will be installed in the house from spring 2020 and that WiFi / Internet will be available.
The sunny site has roofed terraces by the main and side entrances, so you can enjoy time out in nature even when the weather is inclement. A big table, a parasol and deckchairs. For your barbecue there is a barbecue fireplace. The house has two annexes, one of which houses the grill and garden tools, while the other houses fishing equipment (filleting table, work bench and separate fridge and freezer, drying facilities), as well as a sauna (integrated in 2014) and a view of the lake. A further terrace facing the lake is being built here in 2015, so you can relax in a sheltered spot after going in the sauna. Sets of towels can be booked in addition, with a bath towel, two normal hand towels and a smaller towel. This price includes sauna towels, if the sauna is hired.
The highlights of this holiday accommodation include the leisure facilities in the former school hall, the sauna and the room with fishing equipment, and the possibility to use the 3.9-metre rowing boat for fishing and exploring the lake. Life jackets are available. A 3.5PS motor can be hired. Professional fishing boats of the type “Linder Fishing 440“with a 4PS motor and the required accessories can also be hired, details are available locally at the time of booking. From 2019 there is also a fourth boat, a 450 GFK fishing boat with a 5 hp four-stroke engine. The well-known Lake Rusken is of interest to fishing enthusiasts. It is a recognised pikeperch lake that entices many fishing amateurs every year. Pike and bass are also practically guaranteed. Fishing permits for the lake can be booked at standard prices locally.
