The Ems estuary into the Dorlart is 4km away, where you can swim depending on the tide- There are boats or catamarans straight to Borkum from the fishing harbour in Ditzum during the summer months, a wonderful day trip. You do not need a car, just walk to the harbour, climb aboard and off you go. There is also a little ferry several times a day with crossings to Emden.
