Barenegg holiday farm

This holiday flat is under renovation until the end of 2025. We are looking forward to new bookings from 2026. exact date is still unclear, please contact us directly via homepage.

Welcome to our holiday farm Barenegg! Our farm is situated in a sunny and quiet location at 1000 metres above sea level with magnificent views and sunsets. In summer it is an ideal starting point for biking, swimming and hiking in the Appenzellerland or Toggenburg. In winter skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing or snowshoeing. Our flat offers two double rooms, one triple room, cosy living room, kitchen and shower/WC. Central heating available. The area around the house invites you to relax, play and barbecue.
In summer you have the possibility to visit the cows on the nearby alp. There is also the possibility to participate in our daily work or simply watch and experience our farm animals with holding, smelling, stroking etc..
Attractive tourist attractions such as the treetop walk in Mogelsberg, the sound trail in Obertoggenburg or Kronberg/Säntis in Appenzellerland are also within easy reach.

Our animals
On our farm we have dairy cows, cows/cattle, calves, cats, ducks, chickens, pigs and rabbits.
The dairy cows and cattle are on the alp (approx. 2km away) in summer and are milked there.

We offer pick-up and drop-off services from the Hemberg or Bächli bus stop (costs CHF 5.-)

    “Unsere Erwartungen wurden in jeglicher Hinsicht voll erfüllt. Positiv: Sehr nette Gastgeber. Frische Milch, Eier und ein paar andere Dinge konnten direkt am Hof gekauft werden. Kinder konnten mithelfen. Ein tolles Erlebnis!”

    “Positiv: Herzliche Gastgeber, super Aussicht, viele verschiedene Tiere Restaurant: Hotel Rössli Tufertschwil AG - Gute bürgerliche Küche, toller Spielplatz mit Zügli, Bauernhof gegenüber kann besichtigt werden Ausflüge: Säntis - Spannende Erlebiswelt”

    “Positiv: Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Wir durften auch Bob und Schlitten ausleihen und sogar bei einer Schweine-Geburt dabei sein! Negativ: Die Wohnung ist sehr ringhörig wir wurden immer wieder von den Schweinen geweckt”

    “Wir haben schöne, erholsame Familientage genossen. Danke für die amüsanten Stunden und den Spass mit all den herzigen Tieren. Positiv: Herzige Wohnung mit allem, wo es braucht. Das Toggenburg ist landschaftlich traumhaft, man geniesst eine tolle Aussicht und ist völlig weg vom Alltag. Sympathische Gastgeber, uu feines Frühstück und wir hatten viel Spass mit all den verschiedenen Tieren. Negativ: Uns hat es nicht gestört, aber die Wohnung ist nichts für geruchs-empfindliche Menschen (Schweinestall ist gleich unten dran). Den Preis für Wohnen, Frühstück, Putzpauschale finden wir tendenziell eher hoch.”
