Information about the flat

Our holiday flat is located on the historic site of an oil mill dating back to 1685. On the goat meadow behind the flat you can still see remains of the former ice house where the mill wheel once turned. The grinder is also preserved, although no longer functional, in the cellar of the main house. The former barn was completely rebuilt between 1998 and 2000 and now serves as a recording studio. On the ground floor of the present holiday flat, animals were once housed in stables.

The holiday home extends over 3 floors: on the entrance level you will find the sauna and the cloakroom. On the first floor you will find the living room, kitchen, hallway and bathroom. At the very top under the roof is the sleeping area with an additional WC.

If required, you can use our sauna and washing machine for a usage fee.

Our holiday flat is a non-smoking flat.

Shopping and eating

In Steinefrenz there is a baker about halfway down the main street who sells bread, rolls and cakes as well as some other "emergency" food such as honey, jam, sausage and milk.

The nearest grocery shop is in the neighbouring village of Girod, also directly on the main road.

Large supermarkets such as Aldi, Rewe, Norma, Rossmann, a pharmacy and a butcher can be found in Wallmerod, which is about 4 km away on the B 8. In Wallmerod you will also find the snack bar Arena 3, the pizzeria La Storia and (in the direction of Molsberg) the Croatian restaurant Haus am Berg.

Garden, swimming and bathing

In good weather, you are welcome to use the terrace to the right of the carport, which belongs to the holiday flat. Garden furniture and a small barbecue are at your disposal. For children there is a large trampoline and a long tree swing below the outdoor seating area.

The nearest outdoor swimming pool is in Hundsangen. If you prefer to swim at a lake, we recommend the Westerwald lake district, the Hertha lake in the Nassau nature park (between Holzappel and Horhausen) or the Diez-Limburg quarry pond. You can also refresh yourself on the Lahn in Runkel, for example!

What is there to see and experience in the immediate vicinity?

You will find interesting places and hiking possibilities in every direction!

To the west, the district town of Montabaur awaits you at a distance of approx. 8 km with its medieval half-timbering and an ICE railway station with good connections to Frankfurt/Main and Cologne. From Montabaur it is not far to the beautiful Nassau Nature Park with its wonderful hiking trails. But the city of Koblenz, situated on the rivers Rhine, Lahn and Moselle, can also be reached quickly via the B 49 or the A 48 at a distance of approx. 30 km.

To the west, there is an interesting zoo in Gackenbach (18 km). A real zoo is located in Neuwied.

North of Steinefrenz is the high Westerwald with elevations up to 656m (Fuchskaute near Bad Marienberg). In winter there are even lifts and cross-country skiing trails - in summer there are many beautiful things to discover in nature between the Westerwald lake district, Lake Wiesen and the Krombach reservoir.

To the south-east of Steinefrenz, the historic cathedral town of Limburg an der Lahn, the gateway to the Taunus, is about 12 km away. You can also cycle along the Lahn without an e-bike and even take the train back to Steinefrenz station, which is about 1000m from the apartment!



In the bathroom you will find a walk-in bathtub, where you can of course also take a normal shower.

WiFi is available free of charge with a password in the entire area of the apartment and in the courtyard.

The box spring bed in the bedroom does not have a high footboard and has a large shelf above the headboard. It is additionally equipped with a topper, which can also be removed. The dimensions of the bed are 2,00 x 1,80 m.

In the living room there is a sofa bed (2,00 x 1,40 m) on which 2 people (adults) can sleep. Another sofa bed (1,90 x 1,10 m) is in the upper hallway, also for 1-2 persons.

So for a family with 4 children the stay is comfortable.

However, not for 6 adults (e.g. 3 couples). This is because the upper hallway is a passageway for the bedroom. Two couples can each lie in the living room and the bedroom.

Ironing board, iron, baby cot and cleaning materials can be found in a storage room next to the toilet on the top floor.

If required, you can use our sauna and and also a washing machine for a usage fee. (The former even offers the possibility of transmitting your own music or noise-atmo to speakers inside the sauna via Bluetooth!) Please contact us in good time so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Furthermore, we cooperate with the local massage practice "Wellnessoase Melanie Bergmann". The massages offered there (hot stone treatment, aroma oil massage, bamboo massage, herbal stamp massage. Detox-Massage) can be booked directly through our house at a reduced price.

You will find parking spaces right next to the apartment. The use of the large trampoline, a rowing boat for the mill pond and the long tree swing is of course free of charge.
