Experience the feel of a geological park in the glacially influenced headlands of Odsherred. You can find domes and graves along the grave mound street that date back to the Stone Age and Bronze Age. You can also visit the ruins of the 300-year-old abandoned forest village of Ulkerup, and the Hempel Glass Museum. You can find a replica of the sun chariot found in the moors of Trundholm Moses in Odsherred Museum. Also visit the pocket stones and the Næsholm Borg Castle, which are on a small island in the lake Nygård Sø between Højby and Nykøbing Sj. You can catch seafood in the nature school in Odsherred, where you can also enjoy butterfly safaris and expeditions arranged in the forest that entices you in for troll and fox safaris. The nature reserve Hovvig is a restored wetland and is a home for rich bird life. The forest Grønnehaveskoven has fitness trails, a beautiful forest for dogs and on the grassland Kongeengen is the source of Thorskilde, to where there are many magical and adorable properties. Delight your children with a visit to the Odsherred fire-brigade museum. The summerland of Zealand, typical Odsherred’s galleries and the Dragsholm Castle from the 13th century are nearby and definitely worth visiting. The castle offers a gourmet restaurant. According to a myth, a ghost dressed in white lives in the castle. Treat yourself to a visit to the peninsula with several galleries. Havnebyen is the only proper fishing port with boats and a small smoke house. Recreational anglers have a good chance of getting fish here. Enjoy shopping and experience the coffee house in Nykøbing Zealand. The harbour, in Rørvig is a starting point for seal safaris. Enjoy sailing from Rørvig to Hundested, from where Kopenhagen is just an hour’s drive.
