The ideal place for a summer holiday in the mountains

Are you interested in enjoying a summer vacation in the mountains in front of a panoramic view of the snow covered peaks of the Alps? Then head off to Tyrol! Here one can experience absolute freedom and undertake long hiking tours, go on wild rafting tours, breath in the fresh mountain air on a biking tour or discover the region with one of the summer rails. The region is ideal if you are seeking an active holiday. On atraveo you are able to select from over 3730 different types of properties which also include cosy huts.

Conquer the mountains with the whole family either by foot or in a more relaxing way by cable car and everyone will be able to reach new heights! Particularly for your children it will be an unforgettable experience to have made it up to the summit of a mountain and experience the breathtaking view. The best time of the year to travel is between the months of May to October. The newly opened fixed rope route “Huterlaner Klettersteig” in June 2008 in the holiday region Mayrhofen is regarded as being very family friendly though one should come well prepared as 560 have to be climbed up. Those who prefer to sweat a little less can reach the peak with the Ahornbahn. A highlight: This is the first floating café that also offer a fascinating panoramic view.

Seeking more nature? Then why don’t you take some to time out with your loved ones to visit the National Park “Hohe Tauern” and be charmed by the unique mountain range. This national park is the largest of its kind in Europe. Nearly around every corner you will find a treasure like a beautiful flower, a unusual animal trail or maybe even one of the over 10 000 animal species that live here. With a bit of luck you might see chamois, alpine ibexes, marmots or golden eagles.

This is where one wants to live!

Tyrol has a lot to offer regardless whether you like a quiet paddle in the canoe or prefer a wild rafting tour. The rivers of Tyrol provide ideal settings for laid back canoe tours. Should you want to be more daring then head for rafting in the Imster Valley (Oetz valley). It is renowned for having the most spectacular white water route in the Alps with a mix of high waves, massive swells and some quieter spots.

There is a great amount to do if you want to explore Tyrol by bike. There is an extensive network of bike routes that invite you to go on long tours as for example in Zillertal. Even mountain bikers will find this region to their liking. A sporting challenge can be found along the Zillertaler High Road. From the starting point Ried one is set the task over a 40 kilometre route to overcome an altitude difference of 1460 metres. Alternatively one can choose another point to start if the route is too long for you.

Tyrol combines action, relaxation and nature in the most perfect way. At the end of the day you can sit on the terrace of your hut and exchange exciting stories of the day with your loved ones and already start making plans for the next day.
