    “Santa Marina del Rey is een klein dorpje waar niet heel veel te beleven is. Er komt een broodauto voorbij waar je brood kan kopen. Het dorp heeft een heel klein buurtsupermarktje. Zo'n 5 km verderop is een grotere supermarkt. Wij hebben deze accommodatie gekozen vanwege zijn charme en om met de auto de omgeving te verkennen. Veel dorpjes hebben hier nog een nest op de kerk met ooievaars. De stad Leon is leuk om te winkelen en heeft ook een mooie kathedraal. Het stadje Astorga heeft nog deels stadsmuren, een mooi Gaudi gebouw, een chocolademuseum en een gezellige grote markt op dinsdag. In Ponferrada hebben we het kasteel bezocht. Iets verder rijden maar zeker de moeite waard is het natuurgebied Las Medulas. Hier kan je heerlijk wandelen langs rode rosten. Ook zijn er nog oude mijnen die je kan bezoeken. Op ruim een uur rijden kom je grotten tegen die zeer de moeite waard zijn om te bezoeken; "Cuevas de Valporquero".”
